Washington Low Voltage Contractor License Requirements

🔴 ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR LICENSE REQUIRED: Washington requires comprehensive electrical contractor licensing with 4 years experience, exam, insurance, and bonding.

Current Requirements (2024-2025)

Electrical Contractor Licensing

Washington requires electrical contractor licensing through the Department of Labor & Industries for all electrical work, including limited energy systems.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: 4 years electrical experience
  • Examination: Must pass state exam
  • Insurance: $170,000 liability coverage
  • Bond: $4,000 surety bond
  • Statewide Authority: Valid throughout Washington

  • Fire alarm systems
  • Security and burglar alarms
  • Access control systems
  • Telecommunications and data cabling
