🔴 ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR LICENSE REQUIRED: Washington requires comprehensive electrical contractor licensing with 4 years experience, exam, insurance, and bonding.
Current Requirements (2024-2025)
Electrical Contractor Licensing
Washington requires electrical contractor licensing through the Department of Labor & Industries for all electrical work, including limited energy systems.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: 4 years electrical experience
- Examination: Must pass state exam
- Insurance: $170,000 liability coverage
- Bond: $4,000 surety bond
- Statewide Authority: Valid throughout Washington

Limited Energy Systems Include:
- Fire alarm systems
- Security and burglar alarms
- Access control systems
- Telecommunications and data cabling
- Audio/video systems
- Nurse call systems
- Building automation controls
Financial Requirements
Insurance and Bonding:
- Liability Insurance: Minimum $170,000
- Surety Bond: $4,000 required
- Workers Compensation: Required if employing others
- Maintain Coverage: Throughout license period
