Nevada Low Voltage Contractor License Requirements

🔴 C-2d LOW VOLTAGE SYSTEMS LICENSE REQUIRED: Nevada mandates a comprehensive contractor license for all low voltage systems work, with no exemptions for electrical, alarm, or sign installation work.

Current Requirements (2024-2025)

C-2d Low Voltage Systems Contractor License

Nevada requires a C-2d Low Voltage Systems license through the Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB) for individuals and companies performing low voltage work on systems that do not exceed 91 volts. This is a subclassification under the broader C-2 Electrical Contractor license.

Key Requirements:

  • Voltage Limit: Systems not exceeding 91 volts
  • Project Threshold: All commercial work regardless of value
  • License Duration: 2-year renewal cycle
  • Statewide Authority: Valid throughout Nevada
  • No Exemptions: No exemptions exist for any electrical or low voltage work

Systems and Work Covered

The C-2d license permits installation, alteration, and repair of:

Authorized Systems:

  • Communication Systems: Telephone systems, structured cabling

  • Entertainment: Cable television systems, satellite dish antennas
  • Security Systems: Access control, surveillance systems
  • Data Networks: Computer networking systems, fiber optics
