Iowa Low Voltage Contractor License Requirements

🟢 Good News: Iowa offers significant exemptions for most low voltage work, but special licensing is available for specific applications.

Current Requirements (2024)

Class 2 and Class 3 Circuit Exemptions

NEC Standards

Iowa adopted the 2023 National Electrical Code as of January 1, 2024. Class 2 and Class 3 circuits are defined by NEC Articles 725.41 and 725.121, with specific power limitations that ensure minimal fire and shock hazards.
