Job Description

Overview
A leading provider of life safety and security solutions is seeking a Senior Service Technician to support the service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise, leadership capability, and strong customer-facing skills. The Senior Service Technician leads complex service calls, mentors junior technicians, ensures compliance with applicable codes, and upholds high standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities
Service & Maintenance
-Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on life safety and security systems, including:
-CCTV systems (cameras, NVR/DVRs, VMS platforms, and storage)
-Access control systems (readers, controllers, locking hardware, and software)
-Fire alarm systems (panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and modules)
-Nurse call systems (patient stations, cords, servers, and supporting infrastructure)
-Burglar and intrusion alarm systems (panels, sensors, keypads, and peripherals)
-Diagnose system issues and complete repairs efficiently
-Replace defective components and restore systems to full operational status

Troubleshooting & Technical Support
-Lead advanced troubleshooting for complex system, software, and network-related issues
-Analyze system logs, device failures, and communication problems
-Provide on-site and remote technical support
-Coordinate with manufacturers and escalate unresolved issues as needed

Compliance & Safety
-Ensure systems comply with local fire, life safety, and building codes
-Follow manufacturer specifications and company standard operating procedures
-Adhere to safety guidelines and promote safe work practices
-Conduct system testing, inspections, and related documentation

Leadership & Mentorship
-Mentor and support junior and mid-level technicians
-Assign daily tasks and monitor job progress
-Provide hands-on training and technical guidance
-Review completed work to ensure quality and compliance standards

Customer Interaction
-Communicate with clients regarding service findings, system performance, and repair recommendations
-Provide timelines for repairs and preventive maintenance
-Maintain professional, long-term customer relationships
-Deliver basic user training and system operation guidance as needed

Documentation & Reporting
-Complete accurate service reports, work orders, and job tickets
-Update system configurations, programming, and as-built documentation
-Record testing results, deficiencies, and corrective actions
-Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to management

Coordination & Planning
-Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and vendors
-Prioritize service calls based on system criticality
-Ensure availability of tools, test equipment, and spare parts
-Participate in emergency and after-hours service calls as required

Continuous Improvement
-Stay current on evolving technologies, codes, and industry best practices
-Recommend system upgrades and process improvements
-Participate in ongoing training, certifications, and safety meetings

Qualifications
Required
-Five or more years of experience servicing life safety and security systems
-Strong working knowledge of fire alarm, access control, CCTV, intrusion, and nurse call systems
-Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
-Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
-Excellent communication and customer service abilities
-Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred
-Fire alarm certifications (NICET I–III or equivalent)
-Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Bosch, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls)
-Prior experience leading or mentoring technicians
-Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and PoE

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on job sites for extended periods
