Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Field Technician to join our team. This is not an entry-level position; candidates must have prior hands-on experience in AV, networking, low-voltage installation, construction, electrical work, lighting, or a closely related field.
The Field Technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting AV, networking, lighting-control, and smart-home systems throughout the greater Houston area, with occasional projects outside of the immediate area. Employees may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the organization's ongoing needs. The schedule is dependent upon the customer's needs.
Responsibilities:
TVs: Mount TVs with cable management
AV Systems: Install, connect, configure, and troubleshoot audio and video equipment
Network Installation and Configuration: Install network cabling and configure routers, switches, wireless access points, and other IP-based equipment
Lighting Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and program lighting fixtures, lighting controls, and smart-lighting systems such as Lutron
Smart Devices: Install and configure devices, including thermostats, security equipment, and other smart-home technology
Low-Voltage Wiring: Perform wiring and cabling installations for AV, networking, lighting controls, and other low-voltage systems
System Testing: Test and troubleshoot systems and provide client training as needed
Power Tools: Utilize power tools to complete tasks efficiently
Communication: Communicate effectively with clients and team members
Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times
Required Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:
Prior Experience: Professional, hands-on experience in at least one relevant field, including AV installation, networking, low-voltage wiring, construction, pro audio, electrical work, IT, or lighting
AV Systems: Experience installing, connecting, configuring, or troubleshooting TVs, speakers, receivers, and other audio/video equipment
Networking: Experience with network cabling, routers, switches, access points, or other IP-based systems
Tools and Weight Load: Comfortable with power tools and able to lift at least 50 pounds
Smart Devices: Experience installing, configuring, or using smart-home systems
Electrical Systems: Awareness of electrical systems and low-voltage wiring
Customer Service: Experience in a customer-facing job, such as in the hospitality industry
Desired Qualities:
Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Communication: Excellent communication and customer service skills
Transportation: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Bonus Experience:
Certifications: Industry certifications such as CEDIA EST
Construction: Familiarity with home construction techniques and building codes
