This role combines technical sales/pre-sales engineering with the design process for AV solutions.

Key Responsibilities
• Hands-on design and review and oversight to the skilled CAD design team, ensuring design quality, consistency, and alignment with sales and project objectives
• Contribute to improving internal standards and design processes
• Partner closely with the Sales Director to qualify opportunities, develop winning technical strategies, and support the full sales cycle—from discovery and RFP/RFI responses to demos, proposals, and contract negotiations.
• Attend pre-sales, discovery, and client meetings
• Participate in site walks and needs assessments for commercial and residential projects
• Translate client goals into clear, practical AV solutions
• Design complete AV systems including but not limited to displays, LED walls, audio systems, control systems, network and infrastructure components for commercial and high-end residential projects
• Balance long term performance, budget, aesthetics, reliability, and ease of maintenance in designs
• Select and specify components and systems
• Oversee the end-to-end system design process for AV, lighting, control, and integration projects, ensuring designs are innovative, scalable, reliable, and aligned with client needs, budgets, and timelines.
• Provide technical insight that helps win work and set realistic expectations
• Leverage sales performance insights – such as pipeline velocity, win ratees and deal size – to adjust system design approaches, value engineering, and technical positioning throughout the sales cycle.
• Provide market and competitive feedback to leadership and contribute to product/service roadmap decisions based on client trends in AV technology (e.g., immersive audio, 4K/8K video, integrated control systems, livestreaming).
• Assist with troubleshooting and design adjustments when required
• Represent Global AV Group at industry events, trade shows (e.g., InfoComm), and client engagements to build thought leadership and generate new business.
Qualifications
Experience
• 10+ years of AV field integration, with at least 5 years in sales engineering, pre-sales, or design role in commercial AV, systems integration, or related industry.
• Strong working knowledge of audio, video, control, collaboration systems, and networked AV infrastructure
• Strong understanding of AV design principles, CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, D-Tools, Visio), signal flow, acoustics, and InfoComm standards.
• Deep expertise in audiovisual technologies, including sound systems, lighting control, DSP, networking, and integration platforms (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Q-SYS).
• Experience with AV design tools (AutoCAD, Visio, D-Tools, Bluebeam, or similar)
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and non-technical clients
• Strong collaboration and client-facing skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Engineering Technology, System Design, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Advanced degree or AV industry certifications (CTS-D, DMC-E) strongly preferred.
• Proficient in project management tools such as Asana, ProjX360, or MS Project.
• Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
• Experience working directly with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar) and Slack.
• Experience with high-end commercial installs (nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, corporate HQs) and event production/livestreaming is preferred
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to travel up to 30% throughout the US for site visits, installations, and client meetings.
